Phantasy Star Portable 2 Official Site Updates: Hoshin Engi Artist Collab, My Room, Partner Machinery Dragon And Retro

The official site updated today, and if you visit this blog you already know it's going to be a re re re hash of information already released. So to make this interesting we"ll add some new elements inside. It's nice to see NA video game news sites covering Phantasy Star Portable 2 but for some reason they seem to skip out on a majority of the major changes that were announced. If you follow this blog or other fan sites you'll be pretty much in the know days before Sega of Japan releases official news overseas. Cool ain't it! POWA UPU!

The official site became very white… They also added Promo Video 3, which has already been uploaded on Youtube a few weeks ago.

Hoshin Engi Collaboration

Ryu Fujisaki, artist for the manga Houshin Engi, created a pretty strange outfit. It's like a cross between dot hack and Kingdom Hearts. The outfit is called Blank Epoch and Shin no Zou (Telltale Hearts) which are knuckles with freaky glowing effects.

Let's knock down enemies with these knuckles!

PM Dragon and Retro

Due to popular demand, Partner Machinery selection has increased. This time two new types have been introduced. Dragon and Retro type attaches a "support effect" with the player.

Dragon Type: PM 500
It floats! It Attacks! It reduces Fire and Ice Damage!

Retro Type: GH 510
It small! It Attacks! It reduces fire and lightning damage.

Customize your room!

You can change the theme of your room by purchasing a reform ticket. Change to any style you want, go from a gymnasium themed room to a cute and girly pink paradise!

Up to four people in both multi modes can enter your room.
You can purchase a whole assortment of furniture and objects!

Type Counter

Enhance your character's class by visiting the type counter. Here you can upgrade your class by spending "extend points" to add or remove weapon categories and grades. Make your ideal class in any way you want.

You can also embed "abilities" in your character to enhance their battle style. Try out the abilities "Full Charge Shot" "Wild Blast" and "PP Guard Save" and more… For more information read here and here.

Fate/Stay Night Collabs

Fate Stay Night's Archer and Saber costume and items make an appearance in the game. Read below for extra details.

Photon arts for items like Excalibur: Sword of Promised Victory
will have an extra effect applied to them.

Saber and Archer's costume will come in many colors!

Evangelion Collabs

There will be various Plug Suits for the Evangelion Collaboration in addition to the Lance of Longinus spear.

Downloadable Plug Suits (available at a later time)
- Kaworu's Plug Suit
- Mari's new and old plug suit.
- Asuka's Test Plug Suit
- Plugsuits are from "Evangelion 2.0 You can (not) Advance".

Hatsune Miku Collaboration

Hatsune Miku's leek will appear in the game! Not only will the leek appear, but it shall also appear as twin sabers, saber, wand, and rifle. There will also be 4 different kinds of leeks.

Nagimiso's "Miku VN02" costume design will also appear!

For each of these collaboration costumes, both humans and casts will be able to wear them. You can obtain certain collaboration goods by inputting a special password, or downloading them for free.

Tomorrow Sakai will talk more about the playable demo version that will be released November 1st, 2009.

Phantasy Star Portable 2: Details of Playstation Network Product Code and Downloads

Sakai updated his blog post almost solely dedicated to the Product Code. Recently the box art for Phantasy Star Portable 2 was scanned and placed online which left Japanese and International communities concerned over the use of product codes. Sakai basically goes into detail on how this code will work out.

Little Wing License

Sakai wants you to think of the Product code similar to a "game key" for Phantasy Star Universe (JP). This "game key" allows you the right to play on their servers.

The Product Code is printed within the game manual. You will use this product code on the Playstation Network, to obtain your Little Wing License.

However, if you purchase Phantasy Star Portable 2 Digital Release on the Playstation Network, you will automatically receive your Little Wing License.

By inputting your Playstation Network Login ID and Password you can then sign onto the game servers and play "Internet Multi Mode."

As for the registration end date of 12/2/2010, (*December 2, 2010 : Our date format goes MONTH first then DAY) it does not mean that the game servers will shut down at that date, instead you must register your product code before this date.

Download Mission

Download missions are handled similarly in the way how Phantasy Star Portable 1 handled them, except with one special twist. If you connect to the game on Internet Multi Mode, you will automatically download the latest missions. So now everyone can enjoy the same missions at the same time. These missions are brand new and will be stored onto your PSP Memory Stick. (He makes a point as to how these downloads won't just unlock data of the PSP2 software… maybe they see how harmful this was to the PSU community.)

If you don't use Internet Multi Mode, you can download the missions from an official site.

Download Item

Players can additionally download items from the Playstation Store. There will be free download items as well as cash items. He plans on making the prices as low as possible, but he can not reveal the prices at this time. Most collaboration items can be obtained either through inputting a pass code or downloaded from the Playstation Store for free. There will not be any items with extreme strength and power at the store itself.

Downloaded Items will be stored on the Playstation Portable Memory Stick. If a player does not have the same downloaded item in memory, it will instead be replaced by an existing item. (Think of this as Playstation 2 users for Ambition of Illuminus Supplemental update, Ps2 users can not see many of the new items and instead will only see a generic weapon instead)

He will also not allow the sales of items that can change game balance, this includes consumable items, meseta, and boosting of experience value.

As for you collectors who wants to fill the item and weapon "illustration books" within the game, the download items will not affect the completion rate. So you can still attain 100% completion rate without purchasing or downloading any item from the store!

PSPo2: Famitsu adds character renders; Tokyo Game Show 09

Sega will be doing their Phantasy Star Portable 2 live presentation at the TGS on Saturday. Sakai says there will be a surprise special guest too. Since the TGS runs through Thursday – Sunday, I'm sure there will be a huge assortment of Japanese bloggers detailing their experience. I won't be able to cover it as quickly on Friday (My Friday is Japan's Saturday), but check back on Saturday for details from Japan's blogosphere.

Sega has already set up their booth, you should expect to see Fanta's logo on their huge banner image that features the default characters and all the main characters. He hasn't revealed who the remaining two are. I'm not too sure, but, he will probably he will reveal them next month. The booth will be set up so that you can play 2 Co-op missions and one battle mission. There you can also obtain the Fanta can strap that was shown in the Fun! Fan! video.
