Sega's Next 360 Action; Could it be Phantasy Star?

Sega uploaded a new teaser site about it's Next 360 Action. We don't know what it means either but we'll lay down some facts as it comes along.

本日でカウント9です。
URLから見えてくるものもある! ぜひ予想してみてください。

Today's countdown number is 9.
Something to be seen from the URL. Please expect it!

  • It is the next Phantasy Star because:
    • The image started with the number 10. The number 10 could coincide with PSO10th Anniversary
    • Phantasy Star Portable 2 had a similar teaser site counting down to it's reveal.
  • It is not the next Phantasy Star because:
    • 360 likely means Xbox 360, having the next Phantasy Star console game exclusive to one console (especially not PC) isn't very practical.
    • It doesn't say "Action RPG" but it's very close. Most likely an Action based game.
    • The last teaser site of this fashion specifically stated that it was a "New Rpg"

The game was revealed to become a new VIRTUA ON, which I guess is somewhat cool for nostalgia lovers.

And Now A Message from Kakka 閣下

First I'll begin with a big  "Thank you very much!" I want to Thank all the people who were involved with the making this weapon. I had no idea I'd have an impact on Phantasy Star Portable 2 in this way. It was a pleasure to come up with this weapon after going through lots of ideas. I hope you all use this special championship axe as well as Ringo's weapon.

This was the first time I've ever played any game within the Phantasy Star Series, but my first impression on it that it was easy to play and enjoy. This game is enjoyable thanks to Internet Multimode which made it easy to connect with party members. And now I was able to partner up with Ringo for Little Wing Grand Prix. I will continue to play Little Wing Grand Prix.

Sakai Says: When coming up with the creation of this weapon, we went with a similar view of two specific weapons. Former President Dallgun's head was used in a weapon known as the  Dallgun Rod ダルガン・ロッド. Then Laia's face was used in another weapon known as the Laia Axe ライアアックス. So we used the same concept by using Kakka's face on the weapon, in a style similar to the Karsh clan on Moatoob.

You can use his face as a weapon!

And Now a Message from Ringo♪

So I want to talk frankly about how the item came to be… We decided upon the concept after the finals and I am satisfied and astounded by the results very much. This item was stuffed with ideas from Sakai, Suganuma, Kimura, Kakka, Captain T, and I. I'm glad to be able to run around with this weapon in Gurhal! Please use it! Thanks to Internet Multimode and LWGP I was able to meet up with Kakka, considering we live in different areas. I want to say Thanks to Sakai! PSpo2 is a game where you can connect person to person.

I hope that LWGP can continue for a second and third time, and that more events can be brought up with Phantasy Star.

Sakai Says:  Ringo did an impressive job answering questions during the interview smoothly. Since his character name was Apple♪ [林檎♪], we thought there might be some fixation towards apples, so we decided on making a weapon around that theme. However, he wanted to create a "cool double saber" and was worried about bringing together his idea with this type of weapon. The item came to be a cut up apple with a beam within the middle area.

It's another week and another Maximum Attack Cross mission! This time we're playing in Ryucross so expect a lot of tra– I mean obstacles that will be in your way. Expect to see a familiar character from PSU and PSP1. You should try out both the A and S versions of the mission to see different characters. This week, the points from both PSU and PSPo2 will accumulate towards the elemental attribute percentage of the butterfly like "Chou Hi" [チョウ・ヒー] weapon. (The Hi is pronounced as "Hee")

Achieve a value of 26,000,000 points to increase the attribute rate.  The bonus area will unlock pretty soon as well. As you can see in the screen shot above, since the MAX attack missions have been reduced in difficulty, the point value for the second week increased 5 million over the target.
