  1. I can't stop laughing at SEGA's clearly half-assed attempt to stop people leaving EQs. They essentially created and encourage the problem via all the balance issues, reliance on scheduled EQs, milking Star Gems to widen the player gap, absence of large party management features, awful block system, inability to rejoin after disconnection, etc, etc… and now they're going to punish us for their failures.

Remember when Kimura had to go out of his way to reassure everyone on the livestream that they actually think stuff through before shoving it in the game? They're not doing a good job of convincing us of that.

I particularly like how their solution to the client crashing is "make sure your connection is stable". How about you fix your shitty unstable program, SEGA?

I keep getting completely random spurts of client crashing when changing blocks, sometimes when entering a map, and even once while loading the damn congratulation screen. Never used to happen. Gonna be fun getting blocked from an EQ thanks to SEGA's amazing coding where lobby chairs lag the entire server.

    1. What attempt? Encouraged the problem with balanced issues? Widen player gap? Punish us for failures?

      Elaborate , please.

    2. "I can’t stop laughing at SEGA’s clearly half-assed attempt to stop people leaving EQs. "
" They essentially created and encourage the problem via all the balance issues,"
"milking Star Gems to widen the player gap, "
" and now they’re going to punish us for their failures."

      Can you elaborate, please?

    3. Looks like you're alone on this one because personally I find it hard to agree with most of this.

I'm not feeling the effects of this player segregation, and my game rarely ever crashes. Heck, we technically shouldn't even be playing their game if you wanna go that route of discussion, so it could very well be just fine for people in Japan- unless you are in Japan.

I'm also extremely happy to hear that the first people to leave EQs aren't allowed to come back because plenty of people leave in first phases just because an EQ is going a little slower than they want it to. Thanks to Expert Blocks, most endgame EQs go pretty fast which ought to make elitists happier.

Although I don't usually get involved with the community ever, as a completely neutral player just playing for fun and faster clear times, I'm pretty happy with where we are. I don't know where this idea of failure is coming from.

    4. You CAN take a break or even quit if its getting to you that badly. You didn't sign a contract when you signed up my dude, you're free to stop before your head explodes.

    5. Really? I never ever getting any crash outside of launching another program on fullscreen. Seriously, go back to psow because we don't need another Z clone here.

    6. Sounds more like a case of some one not letting Sega bend them over and letting them have at it.

The whole penalty issue just doesn't work. It shouldn't be considered rocket science on all the issues but hey, this is bumped now. Apparentlt grinding is rocket science here.

    7. "Wow I crash constantly and can't stay connected to this game" "well, our games seem fine"

    8. Wow, some one tried to take the message the wrong way on purpose because they can't handle what was actually being said! Oh god!

    9. Which one action doesn't let them bend you over, the angry comment in english or the furious disconnecting from server?

    10. "lack of blind obedience"

what? What is there to obey? You don't HAVE to do any of this.

I think it's more insanity. If you're not having fun or don't like the direction the game is going, then jump ship. Nothing wrong with doing so.

    11. Everyone is having a blast commenting on how he always crashed/disconnected 'alone' and then you ruined the party. I'm pretty sure that the penalty flag only added if you cancelled the quest first. Crashing or disconnecting probably won't trigger it. I don't think anyone is stupid enough to purposely dc'ed and getting kicked out of full block just to get around the system. But, hey this is just purely my assumption so feel free to bash me when i'm proved wrong after they implement it.

Player: "There's nothing to do in this game after i obtained my Austere, the strongest weap"
segac: "Here some grind that will take you lot of time so you can't complain anymore"
Player: "Nah the grind isn't worth it. Already have the stronkest weap"
segac: "Here i put all the new & cool stuff under grindwall so you have a reason to grind"
      Player: "fk you sega"

Complain when the game is getting more casual and then complain more when the game is being grindy again.

    12. Grindy and casual are not antonyms. In fact, the most casual games are the ones which have pure grind behind a simple gameplay system and nothing else. Non-casual (or hardcore as some would call them) are the games where simply doing repetitive actions in a game are not enough to see the end of it. Some require either intense team management both in and out of combat (like mythic raiding in WoW), some require player versatility to be able to change tactics depending on the needs of upcoming challenges etc (like strategy/tactical games) etc.

Most (older) JRPGs were also not casual because they were either too hard at the expected player level and the grind to overlevel a challenge was too long.

    13. someone suggested that if you dc or abandon, you'll be put into the same block and mpa again. this sounds better since dc will put you back. and you can't abandon as a punishment for complaining bad runs and still not taking organized mpa.

    14. As much a i like to be put into the same block/mpa after dc, that system is extremely abuseable. It's kinda the same as campship afk during early nabe ult's time.

    15. Well, yeah. One of the main reason people complaining about bad mpa is because it waste a good amount of rare booster's time. If you can just get put on the same block/mpa after dc/abandon, people will just legally 'afk' and joined again just before the quest clear. I think a lot of people will be overjoyed if they can skip Double or Mother's riding phase and save their booster.

    16. with reduced reward?

like use booster, but CF cut down to 5 – 10% of supposed rate + drop nerfed by contribution. if they made phase 1 to have bigger contribution rate than phase 2 (like 80 + shots at *13 – 20 + no *13/14 at all if you only do this) maybe will make people think twice

(why no *13/14? we know lucky bastards can still get them with 0,0000…1% rate in 1st run)

    17. I'm playing from Europe with a 4Mbps connection. I have had maybe 1 or 2 disconnections when connecting directly to the game 2 years now. When using proxy, I used to get dc'ed more often, especially during Mother. If you have constant disconnection issues, check the following:
      – Are you through WiFi? Use a cord (if possible), or move the router somewhere where you get better signal.
      – Are you sharing your connection? Check your router options to see connected devices and history of connected devices (to see if someone else also uses your connection)
      – Do a router hard reset just in case too.
      – Maybe one file in your installation is faulty and the game disconnects you when it tries to access it? Do a full check (if you use PSO2Tweaker).
      – Do you have other applications using your internet while playing? This shouldn't really have an impact outside of lagspikes, but if you torrent and it clogs up your connection, then you can get dc'ed.
      – And finally, check if your partition where PSO2 is installed needs to be defragmented (if not on SSD). Only defragment partitions with fragmentation over 30%.

    18. Several of my Japanese teammates are crashing seconds within login and it doesn't seem like a Gameguard issue given the windows crash popup. One has two computers and it works fine on the other so it's not related to connection. What they all probably have in common is that they're running Windows 10.

    19. "reliance on scheduled EQs"

I don't understand how does that contribute in making people leave EQs, but hey, whatever floats your boat.

Other than that. I, at the very least, don't experience those "completely random spurts of client crashing" that you claim to do. My PSO2.exe does crash occasionally, but that's usually due to some other background programs interfering. I've only heard of people's client crashing more often when they try to switch to shared ships while using shared VPN. Perhaps you would like to use a separate VPN other than the one provided in Tweaker: I'm not tech-savvy at all but who knows, that may be your root cause in all those client crashes due to lags/delays/whatsoever.

I'm pretty sure that its no small feat trying to maintain a game like PSO2 given its scale, and as much as I don't like some of the features they introduced, I think you should recognise their efforts in trying to make this game better in their own way. They can never satisfy both sides of the party, and honestly speaking we don't have any right to complain about anything they do given that we were kind of "not allowed" to play the game in the first place due to IP restriction. I'm just glad that they don't go around mass banning people using VPNs.

    1. I honestly thought Summoner was a neat little side caster type, lots of different ways to play. Maron is just too incredibly broken, they'd still be very strong without it. It does take some form of skill because theres a huge damage gap between the bad players and good players (600k Maron Strike vs 6 mil Maron Strike, you won't see the latter often) but it totally kills all variety the class had.

Summoner is definitely one of the gripes I have with episode 4 but thankfully everything gets rebalanced at the start of a new episode, which should be coming shortly.

    2. played almost every pet (except viola and melon, too hard for me to master + rappy because im poor)

maron will be useless on bosses that hardly hit, since they need to be hit to go 100% potential. instead, using torim + alter ego kills faster on said bosses (they hardly hit = alter ego is safe)

the skill needed for huge damage maron is timing, since maron will go to detonation timer mode once fully charged, a bad timing gonna screw the huge burst.
+ putting the chain on correct part
+ throwing maron on correct part when boss is moving

unless sega decided to release L/Maron Sure Strike & L/Point Chain like L/Point WB

    3. Off-topic, but will we really have a new episode? I'm kind of pissed off at Episode 4 actually because IMO the story just had too much characters who lack some kind of punch (and it irritates me to no end that some of the characters had forced character settings just to made sure they had some sort of identity. I'm referring to the 2 sisters and that hollywood director ugh). I recently completed the story straight from Episode 1 to 4, and I can really feel that there's this huge gap between EP1-3 and EP4.

While I would be really happy to see a new episode coming, I hope that they actually change the screenwriter if so. Otherwise I would rather they stop at EP4 to stop the story from going downhill…

    4. The way its worked so far is theres a new episode every year. Every episode has a new director to make sure things stay fresh (in terms of story and gameplay content as well). While I personally don't like episode 4's story much, theres no denying that a lot of the japanese playerbase ate it up. Erdem and Phaleg are some of the most popular characters ever. Hitsugi and Kohri are very popular as well as Mother herself.

While I may not like episode 4's story, it's absolutely nothing like Ep1-3 and I really can't fault variety, even if the story isn't suited towards my own personal tastes. A lot of people enjoyed it and keeping the game fresh is far more important to me than my own personal investment in the story.

    5. I have to agree that I do enjoy the main plot, and I do have some personal favorites in this episode too (I'm really intrigued by Erdem and Phaleg!). At least it seems like there is some depth to their character unlike the other characters within the Mother Cluster executives who just comes and go: there's only a brief explanation to their background, and poof they are gone from the story. Personally I prefer it when characters appear for a reason, especially when it comes to antagonists. There's got to be a reason why they are included in the story, right? But I can't really see this reason for majority of the Mother Cluster executives (or just wasn't convincing enough), and that was rather disappointing to me.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to say that the Dark Falz route is the only way to go in PSO2. I'm always open to variety as well, but it just seems like EP4 has introduced too many characters that are unnecessary, and what I meant by that is that they don't contribute to the main plot (plus the fact that they don't even appear as enemies in the game is kind of iffy IMO). By doing so I find that it affects how I enjoy the story. Well it's just a personal preference, I know there are indeed alot of people who buy and enjoyed the current episode.

    6. I'm definitely interested in Erdem and Phaleg. The fact it kind of throws away the entire previous plot of Ep4 obviously isn't good writing lol but the fact both of those characters have apparently been alive for millions of years and neither use Photons (the nanomachines of PSO2) to be as powerful as they are has me hooked.

The cutscene they did with Erdem explaining the various human leaders he's been in many stories of many religions and such was great. He's basically God, which is stupid and great at the same time. I can't wait to see what Phaleg has done in the past.

    7. But if you consider Ep4 is "new Ep1" (which was longer, at least had more chapters), maybe we'ren ot out of it soon.

OK I'll talk a lot now and totally spoil people who missed previous scenarii so it's at you own risk. (But I wanted to tell what I thought about it, now I've finished it too. I mean, when I was blocked in the SB I missed it a little but now it's fixed I was happy to return to it)

From what I remember, Ep1 was not really exciting, except at the end when Zeno desappear, and until it's return…
Ep2 was being more nice, with, to begin with, better animation in characters reactions during cinematics, I really liked this very last part when we return Matoi's past. The Story Quest was huge ccompared to the others and the end was a little sad for some characters… (Yeah I was a little sad for "her")
The third was even better to me, with really good surprises in the scenario and the best (for me) "Falz boss" until now (I don't speak of Double I hate, but Profound Darkness).
Ep4 have good ideas, but the scenario is a little "too much". You pointed the good thing with the sisters: we meet her, fight her… And they die in total indifference because NOBODY cares at all for her. Bethor was finally "fun" (PLAYER-CHAN! :D) but was just a pawn… And I really hate Ophel or I don't remember his name, the trator spy you know who. Some characters where nice and honestly I found some things cool (this scene we do three times before noticing something's off :D) But as There's a "new team" of bad guys, I don't think we'll have a new EP soon. Let's finish this one before talking about it…

    8. How many times it should be repeated? Ep4 direction was aimed towards playerbase renewal, its confirmed directly multiple times in various interviews. Anime launch, graphic setting, ps4 launch, restart of many game systems, new cash shop currency, its all assembled together to work towards introduction of new players. Attracting new player into a setting that has 3 years of lore behind your level 1 player won't be as efficient as gradually pulling him in like transition from Earth theme.

If anything, following episodes, would they happen, can continued putting the game setting back on track. Even in Ep4 you already have various tie-ins explaining Arks restructure, how Sierra casts on each ship work and many characters coming back.
However, with alchemists being completely unexplained, and Deus Esca looking like dragon from the same myth as Hitsugi's sword, I wouldn't even hope that ep4 will be completely tied and forgotten.

PS: To me ep3 story was a complete snorefest, everything felt like a filler between ep2 end and ep3 end, and apprentice story was a fractured throwaway as well. But people seem to bundle it up with ep1 and 2 as if it adds to the quality writing.

    9. Ep3 was a mix of really throwaway and really solid writing so it evens out to pretty just Acceptable in my mind.

    10. IMO a new concept and new target playerbase does not justify for the not-so-good character design and story planning. Sure, Apprentice was kind of like a throwaway with lots of mystery left unsolved and unexplained, but at least it felt like something was done to her character(or at least they attempted). When you look at some of the new characters in EP4, they appear, say some words, you engage in a battle with them, they are defeated, and that's it. What is their purpose in appearing in the story then? I find that there are too many unnecessary characters introduced who don't contribute to the story and that ticks me off major. You could remove these characters, and the story will move on just perfectly. I'd rather they just concentrate on the characters that actually move the plot, or at least give these stock characters enough background, and not just kill them off on a whim. (Kind of feels like I'm making a mountain out of a molehill, I know. It's just my pet peeve.)

Personally I would bundle EP3 up with EP1 and EP2 simply because they are following the same storyline route. Even so, my personal preference still lie with pre-EP4 story writing style, not because I'm an elitist who prefers the "good ol' days" whatsoever, but just because whoever wrote the story was responsible enough to tie up loose ends at the very end, even though I have to admit that I didn't really have a sense of satisfaction when I completed EP3 as compared to when I finished EP2.

    11. Willing to bet the gentleman here has never actually personally tried Su, any takers?

Also totally not hilariously overgeneralising entirely on basis of broken Maron shenanigans or anything.

    12. Yeah, you're right, Br/Hu is the highest skill class ever and spamming Guren-tessen is super difficult! That's why it's the least played class set ever and you almost never see 7 katana bravers in every MPA! It's only, like, 6/12 of them that are K-BR! That's nothing!

  2. Wanna have some fun?
    1) Start an emergency quest
    2) Wait till there are three to four other people
    3) IMPORTANT! They must stant at the teleporter
    4) Trigger countdown
Maybe a couple more people will join during countdown, but in the end the multyparty will not be strong enough to finish the quest in acceptable time. From there either one of them will have to sacrifice themselves to SEGA's coding or they all will have to slowly play through quest, selfishly grudging at each other for not having guts to leave.
Don't forget to be most vocal about the predicament and throw harshest words at the one who triggered the countdown, so that no one realises it was you.

    1. >Being a troll yourself
      >Trying to put the blame on sega
Psst this is a secret between just you and me but you only get penalized for leaving first if the players count is already at 12/12.

  3. "GN Field remotely desactivated because GG doesn't see the Tweaker anymore since 2/22"

Am I alone to think there's something fishy behind that?

Oh BTW, does anyone know what is the BGM in the Boisterous White Day quest? Please?

    1. Just due to the nature of gameguard, sometimes it will block things completely not intended to be blocked. Every time it updates, some of these things will get shifted around. For instance if this is the case, Tweaker is now free to be used again while it most likely will still catch the parsers that they intended to find.

I'm pretty sure the BGM comes from the anime OST.

    2. It's GG, man. The old chestnut about not attributing to malice what can be explained by incompetence is in full effect. :v

    3. Uh, well. Let's just hope they won't try to re-add it to their blacklist or this will maybeg cause other problems then.
Seriously, this stupid thing is used with many MMOs, are we the only ones to be bored by it or everything have the same?

Anyway thanks for the tip too Fael, I'll check the OST of the animation, we never know (and it seems to be a good idea).

  4. The Arks Layer story translation has stopped for the whole year. Anyone got a new translation?

As of now the story is so long and almost 75% is not translated.
