"Episode 4’s final main story chapter"
So these empty nodes in the storyline will be filled sometime between "next patch" after this one and EP5, I guess?
Anyway, I hope this last Story quest will be as awesome as EP2's.
Those will probably for EX stuff like the Phaleg "superboss" fight.
I can easily imagine we'll travel in someone (Phaleg included) story in these nodes, as we "travel in time" in EP2 last chapter…
Erf, we'll then cut-off our "vacations" to fill the empty nodes 😀
It will surely be fun to scroll through entire hosepipe of a storyboard for minutes before finding the back end of a theoretical timetravel somewhere in 023-C
Yeah… But what can I say more? It's made for that or it's just "holes" to "simulate" days passing between two events? But it have no sense.
With the story nicely concluding itself, and brief reports on future of all survived characters, I'd rather believe the holes were punched completely at random.
can't wait for that phaleg boss fight… :v
Episode 4 is the best thing happened to the PSO2 story since Ep2. Probably even better.
Can't contain the hype.
Time to start a war!
Ep2Ch5 was actually the best chapter in the entire story so far.
And Reda the named NPC with the most interesting backstory.
>Reda
ok
Just when i start forgetting about him.
reda best boy
Who is reda?
Search for him on you mini-map, he's on the Shop Area. He's a Ranger Newman with pink hair and a patch in the nose.
And he doesn't have a PC so he's useless, just fun to talk with but that's all…
… Well, I say that but I don't hate him anyway.
That was kinda underwhelming. I guess nothing can really topple EP2 climax, but at least it's not a predictable parade of cliches like EP3.
I like EP4 story, I think it was the right direction for the game.
– Ardem is just a downgrade Luther
– Everyone is sucking Bakatsugi's metaphorical dick, worse than even Player-chan
– Bakatsugi managed to talk-no-jutsu Mother and a fucking God
– Ending is everyone is alive and happy, even former clusters
And you said EP4 is not a parade of cliches ? It has almost every cliche known to mankind put together in one giant shitshow.
EP3 isn't even resolved yet since PD is actually still alive and kicking. Why do you think Xiao being a shut-in during the entirety of EP4 ?
Now the question is if anything can topple EP4 shittiness…
Obviously, its Ep5
Adam*
Not Ardem >.>
He is both Adam and Ardem, and Abe no Seimei and Paracelsus, etc etc.
He basically has a lot of names and was a lot of people. But to the very end, no one ever figured out that he was Adam.
I'd say Xiao never appeared cuz they couldn't get his VA.
I think Mother, Xion and Xiao all share the same VA.
Wow all these trolls. I bet you people are from 4chan or something. Between all the swearing and passive aggressiveness there is not a single argument towards how it is bad presented.
EP4 is for the most part fantastic, Hitsugi is a great secondary protagonist with a lot of character development and Erdem is one of the better written villains in the recent years with clear and relatable goal but unacceptable means to reach it.
What I don't understand is how fussy and upset people get. I mean, sure you can like Phantasy Star, but man do people get rowdy. I personally enjoyed EP4 because of the Story Board system that streamlined the progression, along with the way the care they put into all the cutscenes- even the ones where they're not doing much. I also really liked seeing the parallel between the Phantasy Star world and their version of Earth, and it was fun to play with the idea that all of us (in some whacked out meta sort of way) are taking part of something bigger, as players of PSO2 along with the pretend-Earth.
What I will say is that it's true that it was pretty predictable, along with a lot of stereotypical character tropes that do kind of take you out of it a little. Crazy wildcard sort of characters like Phaleg however, provide a lot of interest to the story and have chances to become more interesting in the future. I wouldn't say that the writing was spectacular, and it was pretty darn cheesy at times, but I also wouldn't say that I didn't have fun playing EP4. It's a shame that ending felt pretty lackluster though, especially with Mother having felt like a climax to the action and then the Ardem/Adam fight didn't really exceed it. That, and you could see his betrayal coming from a lightyear away, I literally said out loud to myself he was evil the moment he first showed up in the story.
I'm pretty sure people are just upset and want some kind of continuation or revisit to previous Phantasy Star locales and events. I know I kind of miss the room-by-room activating and switches and stuff of older Phantasy Star games instead of all these really big open areas all the time. There's a lot of opportunities for PSO2 to bring out a mix of the old with the new that would probably turn out pretty cool, rather than making purely new story content.
Strange how people can play games so unhappily though, given that all we can do is enjoy it for what it is and hope it gets better. Along with that, it's not like we're being forced to pay anything to play PSO2 either. That said, it isn't wrong to voice an opinion and I guess some people just don't like the direction Sega's taking the PSO2 storyline.
Thing is, though- the Phantasy Star story has always been full of cliches no matter which game you're talking about. It's the setting and events that made the Phantasy Star series as a whole interesting, if you were to ask me.
Wow troll! You didn't provide any arguments yourself you know.
Anyway TL;DR of ep4: 1/3 of ep4 you enjoy Peeping on Shitsugi The Anime which is on par with PSO2 The Anime aka complete utter shit, 1/6 you meet old characters which is really refreshing after a long break of ep4 shittiness, 1/3 of nothing happens with Shitsugi being the focus again and 1/6 of actually something happening that you already don't care about because 5/6 of ep4 was so.damn.fucking.good. And don't forget the cliche bullshittery where villain appears and you can only watch because… because fuck immersion, it's not about you enjoying the game, it's about you watching ep4 director shitting fresh turd that you're supposed to enjoy.
Argument: Player-chan/kun is a secondary… no, tetriary character almost removed from the stage so that you can enjoy another season of crappy anime, now in-game version.
