40 thoughts to “PSO2 JP: Prepatch & Maintenance (2/12/2015)”

  1. Why don't they do something about that trash quest called Ultimate?
Heard lots of people with 1000+ runs get nothing which is pretty much sad!
Others used more than 100+ 250%rdr in the boost week and still nothing while
others get like 2 13* in 1 anga crystal? What kind of JOKE is this? -_-

    1. If it gets too easy to drop then 13*'ll become common rare items instead of Ultra Rare. And it's good that there aren't many 13*Bullet Bow with 1600 base(+10) R-Atk to ruin my fun of killing mobs.

Also yeah, Random Number of God…

    2. This happens to people in every MMO. People always crying about RNG. It's called farming and it exists in pretty much every MMO. Not sure what you want, exactly? So, basically, you want rare items to spawn for every person who spends time farming? Absurd.

    3. Yes, but "most likely because you were in hurry to post" (wink, wink :D) you forgot to add that many (or most by now) of these games have actualy working drop boosts that realy do boost drops, and all those achievents and mechanics like breaking parts, killing fast, contribution points etc., are not only give you punny chance to roll for these unique drops, but increase the chance for them to drop also… …Oh well there are still "these games" using costum crates and payed keys and absolute RNG to syphon little bit more from poor already P2P souls, and you proly refer to these "Grand Jewels and Shining Examples of Gaming".

    4. And why not? It is a game after all not an injustice simulator. If one player spends some of his unique and irreplaceable life time farming on a videogame he sure deserves to get the reward as much as an other player.
That is the point of an mmo: you farm, you get items, a new patch brings new better items to farm. Why not give the the players who farmed the items they want? They will be outclassed sooner or later.
Yes, players are crying about RNG and will always cry because it is bad. It is present in so much mmo because it is just easier and cheaper to slap a RNG into the code than tinkering a fine code. Because it is easy and cheap for devs doesn't mean it's good for players.

    5. If player spends some of his unique and irreplaceable life time farming on a videogame, he needs to get a perspective.
When players get what they want, they stop playing. Evidently, players want to eat cactus and complain that it hurts, and I believe that in some way this situation represents higher levels of Justice. And irony. Mostly irony.

    6. So, if a player spends some of that 'unique and irreplaceable' lifetime doing what they want, they need perspective because it's not what you would do? Even if they're not one of the ones whining here and legitimately enjoying it?

Dude, just because everybody has different things they enjoy and just because they spend time farming for something they want in a game doesn't make their time any less wasted than yours. Quit being a jerk.

    7. He has a perfectly valid point.
First off, he never said he wouldn't do it himself, and in fact I'm pretty sure he wouldn't even be posting on this thread if he didn't actually play the game. The insult you saw was totally imagined, though I suppose he could have phrased it better.

What he did say is that they need perspective. You're free to do what you want with your life, but understand that not everyone's goals are in line with yours. What Sega wants more than anything is probably money. Sure, they probably care about making a good game in and of itself, but it's not the top priority. If you're using the carrot on a stick method to get people to play your game – that is, holding something almost unattainable in front of the players and having them work hard for it, and almost all MMOs do that – then actually letting them get the carrot with minimal work is not an effective way of getting them to keep chasing it and, by extension, not an effective way of getting them to spend money on the game.

Don't get me wrong, the drop rates in this game are frustratingly low, and I've learned that playing this game for drops instantly makes it not fun, but that's really not unique to PSO2. That said, posting about how low the drop rates are is completely pointless since it's highly unlikely that the devs actually read this site's comments, or even the site itself.

Here's the thing. No one is forcing you to play this game. If you find the low drop rates frustrating, find something else to do in the game. There are plenty of other ways to have fun, and as I said before, playing solely for drops is a huge mistake. If you really can't find anything besides hunting for weapons you most likely won't get until they're obsolete, then you should probably find another game to play.

    8. If you want to be scammed into playing the unlimited fortune wheel, where only 1/10000th of players get an ares weekly, despite all possible boosters enabled at once, then I don't see a point in wetting the floor about it.

I'm talking about a few people with similar "GIVEME13STAR" tunnel vision that are bordering on some sort of schizophrenia, as you can see far at the bottom of the comment section. They're trying to set themselves up saying that they enjoy the game, and then they completely fall apart in explaining how absolutely everything sucks really hard. Why? Because they didn't get a 13 star.

FRUSTRATINGLY LOW drop rates! You can stuff the pack full of 10-11 stars in one emergency, and actually pay back the 250rdr cost easily, while showering yourself with materials, spheres and god knows what else. But now this isn't enough, because you didn't get a 13 star.

Sega got lazy, but not because there have been 1.5 month delay since last boss, and 3 month pause since UQ. Actually its not true because its more content than it was in 2012-2013 time period, but you didn't get a 13 star, so who cares, let me just put a complaint there.

Several lines of weaponry that can be guaranteed to get after collecting stones, which completely ruins their perfect theory about lack of reward for playing, but its not valid, because they didn't get a 13 star.

Until they realize that not everything in the game is revolving around farming 13 stars, until they realize that they're slowly going nuts on the ground of blind farming something they might actually never get, there is no escape, and their upcoming wet blankets will become more and more delirious as the time passes. Its the point where irony turns into pure justice.

    9. I would'nt mind farming if only the quest itself was'nt utter crap and super boring. Just running around in circles killing stuff? Pfft.

  2. RNG…

…stop wasting your time guys and gals, SEGA replaces weapons almost as quickly as they introduce them.

Play for fun and play casually, life is so much better with balance rather than farming all day, everyday.

    1. Yeah the thing is, the first 200 Angas i played for fun for the first 3 13*s i got, i didn't care at all if i got them. Then friends were like i want one, then started bitching about the RNG and they only hunt for 1 or 2 hours :/

    2. But about sega replacing weapons such as 13*s the gap is very far apart, i think its been 3-4 months since UQ came out, And still no word of the next UQ, Sega will drip feed us UQ updates, who knows how long till the next UQ comes out.

    3. Haha, im waiting for that. Hopefully when new UQ will be introduced, new 13* weapons will finaly look like weapons… And i hope they wont be purple, i swear everything lately in this game is purple 😀

  3. 13★ weapons aren't getting replaced any time soon, they're probably not going to be outclassed by anything other than A) another set of 13★s that'll most likely be a very small improvement or an outright sidegrade, or B) 14★ weapons, which I don't see happening any time soon.

RNG is RNG, it's a roll of the dice, and not everybody gets the number they want all the time.

  4. Is called farming? Oh really? And what about those poor souls who have been farming since ult came out and got nothing? Do you find it fair for those people who are pretty much farming way more than you or do you want them to keep farming cause maybe after another 1000 set of angas they might get a 13* which btw might also be something that they don't have a class to use it! Of course ppl cry in each mmo and maybe there is a reason for that! Farming without results simply makes the game hateful rather than fun! 10 runs = 3×13* VS 1000 runs = 0x13*! How fair does it look to you? Oh wait you probably don't care cause you are not that person with 1000 runs so yea that person is crying and bitching!

    1. If you're blindly going for the same repetitive task, and despite realizing how low your chances are, you blame someone else for your actions, then it raises a lot of questions about your sanity.

  5. the legend said (in JP forums) that the game has a sensor which can sense what the player want then it'll choose not to drop that item lol

  6. You know….all you people talking about rngs, and not getting your rares…I've played Phantasy Star since it was a dungeon crawling engrish filled mistranslated clusterfuck on the sega genesis. That being said this means I've also played PSO version 1 and 2, PSO on the gamecube, On the Japanese blue burst servers, and of course Universe before pso2. You seriously are pampered these days with these drop rates. If this gets you guys so upset then I don't see any way you could have survived back in my day. When you'd run Towards the Future and or just Ruins 1, 2, and 3 area clearing to kill falz 5000 plus times aiming for Red ring only to ultimately get trolled by a photon drop. You're spirits would have been crushed after run number 10 at the rate of complaining I'm seeing here. Back in my day we hunted Olga Flow 500 times got trolled with a photon drop instead of his mag cell. We proceeded to: cuss up a storm, flip him off, and run RT 400 more times. To add fuel to this fire. The bosses only dropped 1 item. One not an entire cesspool of potential rares. Stop whining, do some farming, and get used to it because that's how this game, and every other MMORPG on the planet works.

    1. Its just that Asuka and Rewman starting up a rant, especially Rewman with his sarcastic shit.

    2. Setting aside you compare 2012 game with games that spam from 1987 to 2006, there is one little difference that made RNG pretty much must have. It was limited content. With expansion sets comming out each 6 – 12 months it was needed to keep player population up and playing. Now there is content addon each 3 weeks and big update each 6 month and all for FREE, its rather different story. And i dont shun RNG, just the lack of effectivity in those mechanics that should bypass the RNG. AKA drop boosts, special actions/mechanics. I remember hunting pty´s in Universe, it was more picknic with boss killing in the end and it was fun and all for fun, no real stress with drops, you got, you are lucky you take. That sayed, XQs are no picknic 🙂

  7. Oh how generous of you Sega to finally fix the BS that comes from running into rare enemies when we need the regular version of it for a TO and D . . . wait I don't see it saying DO aw comeon T_T

  8. not sure whats wrong.. downloaded the update from tweaker.. tryed to connect to the proxy keeps telling me a error.. switched to my PERSONAL VPN try to log in.. error code 430.. the hell? my friends logged into the game right now this makes no sense.

  9. The way they handled UQ is idiotic. You can get the best weapons in the game from a quest you can do unlimited times per day and requires no entry fee nor has any other restriction beside level. The only catch: horrible drop rate. Ah, but how excited we were when they told us regular mobs only dropped 10* and above! Excited until we learned just how scarce even those were, so now people exploit the quest so they can just farm Anga. This shows just how stupid the something-or-nothing drop system really is. Other MMOs at least give you useful materials or items even if you don't get the gear you want so your farming isn't a total waste of time. In PSO2? Hundreds of excubes spent while doing UQ hundreds of times and if you haven't gotten a 13* what is it that you've gained? All of this falls on Sega and the players have every right to be upset.

The future looks grim, honestly. The only thing keeping this game afloat is the combat system and that people still want to dress up their waifus since cosmetics and costumes is all we seem to be getting these days. Sega has become incredibly lazy with PSO2. If you need more proof of that, just look at XH difficulty.

    1. M1 & REWMAN I totally agree! As i said before i'm not talking about me since i already got some items from it but the drop system on this game does suck and yes i believe that 250%rdr is just a joke! Yes they want to make people play and force em to farm but as i said is unfair for those people who farm way more than me to get nothing and makes me feel bad for getting 3 weapons on my 300 runs!
I am not a saint but i been there and i know how those poor people feel! It would be better if for once some people stop thinking only about themselves! -_-
Heck even mobile mmos these days gives you something else besides rare weapons!
They could at least give like weapon fragments on drops (ex 20 fragments = 13* or something) so that people wouldn't feel it is a waste of time and be upset about it!
And yes i do play the game for fun and i enjoy some of the EQs but even those are getting boring since we been playing the same EQs for years now! If you want the players to keep playing the game for other reasons and not only ULT then give us new maps and EQs not simply rise difficulty on the old and boring ones! We have reached a point where most of people play this game only for EQs and Ultimate!
I don't remember that thing happening on PSU where you could do other things other than repeating the same quest over and over and over again (i did enjoy farming sakai for its dragon scales :P)!
