Motherbrain Guide

 Mother Brain

Its your Motherbrain and she's mad that you didn't wash the dishes!

Motherbrain is back for a new purpose and a new goal. She's been infected by the seed and its up to you to purify her. Motherbrain is pretty much the same as Dulk Fakis in pretty much everything, with a few minor differences.

Her mainly annoying action is to put shields up. During this time if your in a large party, this won't be much of a problem. Your party can just keep blasting at her sheilds while someone is there to heal you.  However in a 1-2 person party this will be problematic as most of your attacks hit 0. During this time its best to wait for her arms to come down, back away before they slam on top of you, then attack her arms directly. When her arms moves towards you, face forward and try not to turn your back against it. We'll explain in more detail later on why you should do that.

Its Motherbrain! Clean your room!

Her other attack is the blueish purple gas that comes up most of the time when she has her sheilds up. You should again face forward and keep running forward when this gas pushes you back.

When her shields are down, you have a limited time to attack at her face. Listen for the vocal and sound effect cues that tell you when she's about to put her machine gun and blast you to peices. Its easily avoidable if you pay attention to a white ring on the ground. However if your constantly dodging her machine gun attacks you won't have any time to even hit her.

So why should you face forward during her attack? Leo yells, "From Behind!" for a reason. If your back is facing her arm, she will have a higher chance of critical damage against you. If you face forward, you will have a higher chance of dodging her attacks, thus you'll be able to do the Just Counter.  For her arm, I would suggest to stay away from it when she's about to push you back since you won't be dodging her attacks all the time, but if you get stuck in the situation where your pressed against her arms, just face forward. For her purple gas, I always recommend staying forward because this is her most easily dodgeable attack.

Shitenkaku: Fortune Teller & Offering Box

New Items are Updated Below

Above Mt. Ohtoku is the beautiful Shitenkaku, sitting atop of the Pavillion of Air. There isn't much to do at Shitenkaku other taking in the scenery and trying out your luck with the Fortune Teller and Offering Box.

The Fortune Teller will tell fortunes for a price! After you pay for your Fortune, she will read fortune cookie text and give you some line about how everything is going your way and how important you are…whatever. Basically she tells you the same crap about what you'd read in horoscopes anyway. This isn't really her main purpose, actually she is there to alter your luck. She will either upgrade or downgrade your luck depending on the fortune. For example,  If you have 3 Star luck, there is no point talking to her because she will lower your luck down. If you have 0 Star Luck, she might  bring your luck up a few levels. In Summary talk to her when your Luck Levels are 0  Star and 1 Star, don't ever talk to her when your luck level is 3 Star. After you payed for your fortune, you can no longer talk to her until the next day.

Your Luck appears next to your character name. The brighter it is the more luck you have.

The Offering Box is a box that you donate your Items to. Now you see, the offering box is like a high class diva, and likes EXPENSIVE BLINGIN' items. So when you give a gift to the Offering Box, give it your most expensive weapons. Any material, weapon, or armor above 7 stars that sells for a high price in the NPC shops will have a higher chance of getting a prize back. You have an even greater chance of getting a prize back when you donate A Rank and S Rank weapons. But there's a catch, sometimes you have to donate several expensive products in order to get a prize back. Some people have donated once and got a prize on their first try, while others have to donate several times before they got their prize.

The offering or offertory box likes S and A rank Weapons and Materials

Just Attacks & Timed Attacks Guide

ricardo.jpgJust Attacks aka Timed Attacks aka Exact Attacks, is a special feature added into PSU and Ambition of Illuminus that allows you to increase your damage rate based on the time you press your attack button. Its not very hard to do, it just takes practice to get it consistantly.

To activate Just Attack, each weapon class has their own unique time for you to press the attack button. Sabers and Claws are the easiest to activate, but other weapons, such as, Double Sabers and Long Swords takes some time to get used to. You may want to start a mission and just practice pressing the attack buttons at different times to get the Just Attack effect. The key to getting a Just attack to work is to time your button presses. If you press any attack button before your supposed to,  your next Just Attack will fail and will result in a normal attack. Even if you mash the attack buttons but press it during the right frame of animation, it will not activate Just Attack. You can only press your attack button once for each combo at a specific time.

You'll know when Just Attack is working when you see a Yellow Ring around your character and that Extra Hard Hit sound from PSO plays.

You can string up to 5 combos of Just Attacks. You can also mix your Just Attacks with Photon Art: Just Attacks at any time during the 5 string combo. Note that the Photon Art (PA) will only allow up to 3 combos depending on the skill.  For example you can do a full combo in sequence:

Attack > Just Attack > Just Attack > PA: Just Attack > PA: Just Attack > PA: Just Attack. (6)

Or you can mix in your PA: Just Attack early in the combo sequence:

Attack > Just Attack > PA: Just Attack > PA: Just Attack > PA: Just Attack (5)

As you can see, once you input a PA: Just attack early on, your maximum combo is reduced. It will be reduced even further if you don't have your Photon Art skill level high enough to do a combo.

Finding the right time for each weapon will take some time. Here are some tips you can use to figure out the timing for the harder elements:

  1. Double Sabers: The first Just Attack is initiated once your character finishes the animation and puts the weapon back to his or her body.
  2. Daggers: The second Just Attack is initated when your character stops moving and is sort of crouching, but once they begins to stand up the combo breaks!
  3. Twin Saber: After the second Just Attack, the first PA: Just Attack is initated after your character finishes the animation and is about to place their two hands together near the top of their head. This one is tricky because its a fairly long pause and if your a few milliseconds off the combo breaks.
  4. Twin Daggers: After the second Just attack, the first PA: Just Attack is iniatiated right when your character is about to stand up. If you wait a few milliseconds too long and your character has completed the standing up animation, the combo is broken.
