    1. Tanks would be relevant if they got some bonus debuff when they just guard or or other tank ways. An example would be giving tanks the ability to decrease enemy S-Defense, R-defense, or T-defense depending on the times he does a just guard against the enemy, and maybe get a chance of stunning or decreasing attacks which gives tanks a more important role in the party.

    2. Guard stance isn’t only for tanks. It can be used in FI/HU builds that run limit break.

    3. Guard stance in LB nuild how?

Why would anyone sacrifice Fury stance over Guard stance? Taking guard instead of Fury would result in a worse LB. The buff just isn’t enough.

I’ll answer myself. No one would.

    4. Forget tanks. I still can’t see guard stance creating a competitive class combo … they should just remove guard stance altogether but even that wouldn’t be right.

Guard stance would’ve been good if they made it so as long as you don’t get hit too often it keeps its full effect. Like a layer of shields; more shields = more defense but for every hit you take you lose a shield. Something like that wouldn’t make guard stance too popular but at least it makes it a better defense skill.

    5. Do you mean penalizing players who can’t guard correctly, or rewarding players who can? If the former, I take it you mean that the more you get hit, the lower your overall defense goes (starting high, becoming low). If the latter, I take it you mean that the better you guard and dodge, the more shield layers you get and the less damage you take when you DO get hit (starting low, becoming high).

Either way, the additional mechanic would make things a bit more interesting for when I do decide to use my HuFi.

    6. The former is exactly what i mean. Your latter interpretation is interesting too. Anything that makes guard stance CLEARLY effective.

    7. “Guard stance would’ve been good if they made it so as long as you don’t get hit too often it keeps its full effect. Like a layer of shields; more shields = more defense but for every hit you take you lose a shield.”

If you can/need to dodge/guard attacks then why don’t go Fury? Why lower your DPS for no reason?

    8. I’ve never seen the ENG community’s issue with Guard Stance. My problem is how Sega has failed to contain power creep and how they’ve failed to balance against it as well. If the game wasn’t a giant DPS-fest, tanks would get more respect. As it is, the only thing my HuFi is good for is helping new friends get into the game and explain stuff, since he doesn’t murder everything before they can even look at it properly.

If this rebalance actually works, and the fights in-game get longer, then he’ll be able to return to maining HuFi, but for now, I think, he’ll be staying as TeHu and bashing things over the head with a hammer.

    9. No amount of rebalancing will make anyone respect you, if you’re going to run around on last minute of Gracia run in a completely botched hu/fi build, scream “its not my job to dps, Im just a tank” and use warcry in the corner to feel hella useful.
Then you will blame “failed balance” because you decided to roleplay a bit too much, without regards to how game works in its core.

Guard stance skills are not for building a tank, they are supposed to complement immobile playstyles, you can complain about obsolete skill trees or mechanically inferior weapons like WL, but you have to have at least SOME standards in offence instead of picking every next +3 rdef and affixing blow resist.
People in XH today can’t even reliably clear third area of unboosted ep1-4 LQ in time, some power creep it is.

    10. Boy, it’s like the mention of tanks just draws in people who can’t read. I don’t use my HuFi tank for EQs. Haven’t for about a year now. I have a total of seven characters now, and four of which are more than capable of being useful in EQs (I’m pretty sure everyone here is aware how busted Braver is). Don’t make assumptions and insult me.

    11. I don’t need to insult anyone there, people basically do it themselves when they try to drag mmo archetypes into action game and believe that it won’t screw MPA matching.
Yes we don’t have enough crowd control methods, lets intentionally ramp up XH health values at least ten times so people would want to seek even more dps instead of kiting stuff around. That, of course, excluding almost half of existing quests, since they don’t even involve necessity of crowd control or enemy attention diversion.

People claim “failure” on current design, then they invent a very irresponsible shortsighted pseudosolution, all to justify an existence of one role that barely fits into ONE (1) type of quest. How do they expect not to feel insulted?

    12. wait wait wait… people are still having problems getting in 4th area of ep1-4 training on XH? … huh… good to know. Was kinda worried since timer would run out on the last 2 bosses and was feeling pretty bad about it, so I was trying to do some revisions of my class trees and whatnot.

    13. Oh geez … nobody said anything about using it in EQs. Ik i wouldn’t go with a defensive build unless I’m a melee TE/hu. That aside, it will be very hard for them to turn guard stance into a skill that can be used to make competitive class combos.

    14. I doubt they will. That’s just not its purpose. Even my TeHu on that character is a completely different Hunter tree with Fury Stance. My Guard Stance tree only works as HuFi, and my Fury Stance tree is meant to compliment TeHu… Still leans toward support and I steer clear of randoms with it, but I refuse to have that character NOT be a support. I have six other characters to dedicate to the DPS race BS.

    15. Best anyone can say is to play how you want because that’s what everyone else is doing. As for any complaints, don’t ask– don’t tell. But it’s not like fi/hu don’t go full dps and stick a point in warcry to keep w/e looking at them. How the game is, tanks/healers just aren’t needed. Guard stance would need to be changed so it acted like bo pp/crit rings that affect everyone, then maybe they would add something that the group couldn’t live w/o. But, that would mean they would have to start dictating what comps mpas would have to have and I don’t see them doing that nor want it.

    16. Yeah and I also see tons of Mining base Emergency quests being lost on SH and higher because no one is using Warcry and/or improved Zondeel in those quests. Because the game is balanced around doing high damage fast and not experimental builds with each player fitting into a different role. Techers are still the class that has the least amount of players play despite being the most useful in MPA and GS hunters as Agro manipulators have their use too but because the Damage isn’t right nobody plays those.
Giving Guard stance and Guard stance up a 10% damage boost would be literally all it takes to make a GS Hunter build work from a DPS standpoint.

    17. or at least give warcry uninterruptible aggro, so no random Fo took whole aggro and complain mob keep on chasing them (or when random player on AIS gain exoda aggro)

another solution, but i doubt PSO2 coding can do this. Raid boss wipe move differs target by aggro, so a single warcry literally save whole mpa from nuke.

(we forgot showtime also draw aggro)

    18. Power creep is evident on those who have high-end equipment and knowledge of game mechanics. The average player with 13* weapon from 300 enemy kills and 3slot Brisa set isn’t dealing 5 and 6 digit damage numbers. And it’s not rare to see such players XH runs. But the game still “punishes” them for underperforming: They get less rewards.

    19. I think it’s funny how people justify the state of the game by merely repeating how the game is currently is why people shouldn’t deviate from the DPS race. They speak of being short sighted but offer no real long term solutions.

    20. Why would they? Not like the devs read these comments.

Even assuming for the sake of the argument that some good ideas were presented (instead of, y’know, the usual endless nerd fighting and nonsense) those do not by some Internet magic translate into telepathic transmissions to the brains of the people who actually do things, nevermind now the suits and beancounters above them who hold the final authority.

  1. Hey guys, so how does one affix to +200 on their gear? Guide anywhere explaining this? As someone who typically doesn’t affix their gear not quite sure how to do said things at the moment

    1. to be clear.. no idea how to affix properly in the first place.. seems convoluted, overly complicated, and confusing

    2. I recommend using the Affix Simulator to get an idea of things: http://arks-layer.com/abilitysim/

Basically, you need a base unit that has the amount of abilities you want, and fodder items with at least that many abilities. Find the abilities you want on items with that amount of abilities and prepare to jam them together in a hopeful attempt to get what you want!

A bit deeper, you usually need 3 or 4 of a basic ability to guarantee the add-on. You can only have 1 Soul ability on each item, and you’ll probably want an Add Attack/PP item use as well, which gives a 100% chance to get what you need. Invest in items with Receptor on them to guarantee the affiliated ability can get added on (Soul Receptor, Gift Receptor, Extreceptor) Oh, and you can add an extra ability onto and item at the cost of your success rate.

You have 6 items to work with to get everything you want, including your base item. And yes, it seems overly complicated and is extremely confusing going into it. Try affixing a few cheapo 3 ability items to get an idea of things first, but the simulator is a fantastic tool that will help you plan it out.

    3. Step 1: Learn, love and live what enhances your affixes.
Step 2: Farm/Buy affixes with monies you probably don’t have.
Step 3: Hit up simulators so you can see percents that will never be 100.
Step 4: Fail at making fodder followed by failing more because rng is love.
Step 5: Upon being sucked dry of all your assets come to the realization that affixing is basically a bitter divorce and you don’t even get to keep your damn dog.
Step 6: Pray to RNGesus or Lootcifer and finally catch a break.
Step 7: Pass Go and start at Step 2 because your goal is higher than 5 affixes and thus you’ve signed up for a never ending struggle. That and you have 3 units per atk type and zero to 3ish weapons per class to affix.

Realistic advice would be use this boost to set yourself up with 150ish atk units/weapons and amass a fortune and fodder for the next because you showed up to late in the game to pretend you’re going to pull off 200+.

  2. Oh dear, the chain got moderated away while I was still writing.

And nothing of value was lost that day. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
